Joe Delgado

Joe Delgardo retired from teaching and coaching basketball. He has taught civics, government and history in Arizona. He also taught in the Boston Public Schools, Newton Public Schools, and the Brookline Public Schools in Massachusetts prior to coming to Arizona. He has been in the Phoenix area since January of 1998, and has served in the roles of teacher, Principal and as an Assistant Principal in Arizona’s public and charter schools. Mr. Delgardo has taught kindergartenthrough college and loves teaching.

 

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and a master’s degree in occupational education administration from Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. He also attended an “Educational Policy Fellowship Program,” at George Washington University in Washington D.C. and Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts, where he received a certificate of participation from the Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools.  

Joe Delgardo has also worked in government for twenty years plus years; serving in the capacity of Assistant to the Mayor of Boston, Coordinator of Community Participation, Affirmative Action Manager, Director of Diversity, and Human Resources Manager. He has served as the Voting Rights Ambassador for more than ten years. 

Joe has been a consummate volunteer in Boston and Arizona, and he also ran for the Boston School Committee in 1983 and Boston City Council in 1993 and he is extremely passionate about civic engagement. Joe has served on numerous Community Boards and Commissions as a Volunteer.

 

Joe travels throughout the state, and he registers voters and gives presentations about the importance of civic engagement and has given presentations to over twenty thousand youth over the past ten years. He served as the representative for Secretary Adrian Fontes as a Former Ex-Officio Commissioner for the African American Affairs Commission. He is a currently a Member of the Chancellor’s Maricopa Community Colleges Advisory Committee, and Commissioner of the Latino Indigenous Coalition of Arizona, Board member of the FARS Boardat Portable Practical Education Preparation (PPEP) in Tucson Arizona, representing the Native American Community.
